After about an hour-long inspection in presence of additional city magistrate (ACM) D D Verma, the duo suggested that poles of all four towers be replaced by new ones and fittings in light panel of each pole be enhanced. At present there are 84 fittings and the team suggested to enhance it to 104.They later apprised the ACM that they would prepare a detailed report later with suggestions and recommendations.
The existing floodlight system was installed in the year 2002 at a cost of Rs 5.54 crores. It is a system of three-stage illumination and is able to generate 3,600 lux light in the third stage. He said that Walmont was a multinational company with expertise in manufacturing poles for flood light systems in stadium or high-mask light system while GE is manufacturer of fittings for flood light towers.
Earlier, Shailesh Morya, an official of Bajaj company had visited and inspected the flood light system of the park on February 23 and termed it as obsolete. In his proposal, he had suggested a new flood light system of four poles and quoted an estimate of around Rs 3 crores.
The ACM and in charge of Green Park maintenance stated that Walmont and GE both had assured to send their detailed report within 10 days.
